OpenAI has officially launched ChatGPT Atlas, its much-awaited AI-powered web browser, after months of testing. Designed to go beyond keyword-driven search, the new browser integrates OpenAI’s advanced ChatGPT large language model, offering intelligent, conversational assistance for web users.

What Makes ChatGPT Atlas Unique

ChatGPT Atlas can do far more than a traditional browser — it can:

Summarize lengthy web pages into short, digestible points.

Generate trip itineraries, study plans, or shopping suggestions.

Offer real-time insights and recommendations based on user intent.

The browser’s Memories feature enables it to remember previous interactions, improving accuracy and personalization over time. For example, a user can ask, “Find all the job listings I viewed last week and summarize key interview trends,” and Atlas will generate a smart, context-aware response.

Importantly, the Memories option is completely optional and can be enabled or disabled anytime.

Availability

Currently, ChatGPT Atlas is available exclusively for macOS users across Free, Plus, Pro, and Go tiers. It’s also in beta for Business, Enterprise, and Edu users (if enabled by the organization’s admin). OpenAI confirmed that versions for Windows, iOS, and Android will follow soon.

How to Set Up ChatGPT Atlas on Mac

Download ChatGPT Atlas from the official OpenAI website.

Install the browser and sign in with your ChatGPT account.

During setup, you can choose to import bookmarks, saved passwords, and browsing history from your current browser.

How to Import Data from Another Browser

Click ChatGPT Atlas at the top of your desktop screen.

Select Import data from another browser.

In the pop-up, click Start Import.

Allow Keychain Access if prompted — this enables importing saved passwords from Chrome, Safari, or Firefox. (You can revoke access anytime.)

Once done, select Finish to complete the process.

How to Import Bookmarks into ChatGPT Atlas

Users can transfer bookmarks from Safari, Chrome, Firefox, or even an HTML export file.

Steps:

Open Atlas.

Navigate to Settings → Manage Bookmarks.

Choose the source browser or select Bookmarks HTML file.

Select what to import and confirm.

If you’re a new user, your bookmarks will appear directly on the bookmarks bar. If you already have bookmarks, imported ones will go into the “Other Bookmarks” folder. Users can also export bookmarks to an HTML file at any time.
